Marion Castle Artist

Credo

Marion Castle paints using all three media of oil, water, and pastel. She does not like to mix them and still believes that no other paint medium can really compete with the grandeur of a large oil canvas.

Her subject matter is a natural response to her environment.
She is a European with professional education status
and a very vibrant sensitive mind.

Her subject matter is dependent on her current interest or some new excitement at hand. She believes implicitly in her basic instinct.

Our attributes manifest themselves when we are unaware of "self". The actual physical techniques are just servants for the use of the mind. We are asked for so few things by the soul within. The greatest necessity is time. We must clear the time to work and then work with great sincerity. And that product, art, is the physical object that arrived when the path was cleared.

VISUAL ART IS AN ARRANGEMENT. It is not a found, natural thing. A work of art is the product of an act of rearrangement. We artists are physically rearranging to our own design some of the materials available to us.

We have a message but we are only the messenger.

Curriculum Vitae

Marion Castle - Fine Artist

Studio
44 Maudlin Court
Thomastown
Co. Kilkenny
Republic of Ireland

Marion Castle was born in 1937 in Bulawayo and was raised in Rhodesia, later known as Zimbabwe. She graduated from the University of Cape Town with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Pure Mathematics. A professional career in teaching led to lecturing in the engineering department of the Polytechnic. She retired to pursue her passionate love of art. Marion Castle uses different media for her work but is a purist at heart. She believes, however, that there is nothing as amazing as a huge oil painting on a primed canvas. She is intrigued by humanity and most interested in its visual perception. She prefers to work by instinct, believing that things unfold, as they ought, without the need for conscious interference and that we naturally reflect what we have become. She has only one mission now, and that is to create the time and space to do more work. In 2006 she relocated to Thomastown, which lies in the quaint Irish agricultural county of Kilkenny, where she works in her own studio. Her subject matter is very varied and mostly dependent on her current interest or excitement.
